Trinidad Damian Ms. Lehmann English 2-2A 4 October 2019 Big Bang “I want this house spotless! I want the most impeccable, beautiful, clean house on this street,” exclaimed Mom. “Mom, are we even going to have time? Like, you know that I have that ‘school party’ to go to, right?” said my sister, Yesenia.
“Well, if you clean the house wellenough, I'll think about it” responded my Mom. “What are the chores you want us to do?” asked my brother, Tavo.
“Whatever you see that needs to be done, do it. Okay?” replied my Mom. And just like that, as soon as Mom closed the door, we began the biggest cleaning project of 2012. We all knew who was doing what chores-we had to split them up between all seven of us, anyway. We decided that we should at least try to keep our brand-new house clean. After all, we all felt happy to finally have a home of our own.We never saw the mounds of moving boxes in every room, the piles and piles of plastic plates from yesterday's pizza, but we all really enjoyed cleaning it up, sort of like therapy to us. “I say we’ve been working really hard.Like, every room is almost completely organized, andthe dishes are almost done,” said my brother,Juan. “oh my gosh! I would kill for some McDonalds ice cream right now’ exclaimed my sister, Celia.
“Or how about some Panda Express? They just built one next to Walmart,” said my sister, Pam.
“I can take us, but it has to be quick. Mom gets off work in a couple hours, guys,” repliedYesenia. As we headed off to twin, checking the time every minute because we didn’t want to get in trouble, we realized... Panda Express is so delicious! We really have never had Panda, only when we would go visit my family in California. We had such an amazing time.We laughed, talked, joked, andsomething that surprised all of us happened. Our youngest brother said he loved us. We finished our “little break” by getting a McDonalds ice cream. I looked at the time and saw that it was 4:53! We rushed home with such speed that we... got pulled over. Because I guess you’re not supposed to be going 95 on the freeway, but whatever. We burst through the front door. The constant screaming, the anxiety of not knowing if mother was close, everything was going so terrible. “Why didn’t you do your chores like you were supposed to Celia?” exclaimed Tavo.
“Because you never did any of your chores, so I didn’t want to either,” yelled back Celia. As their argument intensified, we noticed that there were only ten minutes before Mom got home. Then.... there was a loud bang.Dust flew, filling the room. Tavo had lifted my sister as if she were weightless and slammed her right through the master bedroom wall. We were mortified to say the least. I learned that procrastination and laziness is a recipe for something horrible. Personal Narrative Reflection
Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific.
We started of by brainstorming all the different types of stories we could've written. Then we made an outline of the story we chose. Next we typed out our rough draft, Ms.Lehmann graded the rough draft. Finally we corrected the mistakes we made in the rough draft.
2. What qualifies this paper as a narrative? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them?
One of the first things that made this story a narrative was we were telling a story. Then we had to do the "show don't tell" method, We added dialogue, and Imagery.
3. What is one part of your story that you think turned out really well? What do you like about that part?
"We rushed home with such a speed that we...got pulled over. Because I guess you're not supposed to be going 95 on the freeway, but whatever." I personally love this part because it was so sarcastic and it brought back so many memories that I thought I had forgotten. Plus it gives it some comedic value to this anxiety ridden story.
